An increasing body of research suggests that the quality of the principal’s leadership is a significant factor in student achievement. Principals and vice principals are lead learners in schools, responsible and accountable for quality teaching and learning.
To support principals in their roles, the BPVPA has created the Leadership Standards, aspirations to which a principal or vice-principal may strive. They are a guide which foster continuous professional learning in working towards effective leadership. It is my intent to use them to support my learning and help guide the process.
In the pages which follow, I hope to describe how I’ve been able to meet these standards, and use them as a guide in my leadership journey.
