Digital Boot Camp Day #1

Today, participants were very excited to get their new devices, and get started with using them.  There was an hour of intense partner learning, which was of great interest to me.  As an educator, I was watching how there was sharing, co-teaching, exploring and experimenting, but no direct instruction from the front.  This is what I see with students in my classes as well.  They want to explore and learn for themselves.  The idea of “follow me as I show you” seems very foreign.  As adults, we play and explore until we get lost, then we search for someone to help us.  Individual help, to assist with a personal problem.

A few new toys to check out as well. VoiceThread is an app that seems to have some value, I’ll take part of the summer to explore it.  Also, I’m always curious about iMovie and iMotion, but during the busy year there just isn’t time.  Take it to the beach, try it out.

Hey Ron…thanks for attending Digital Boot Camp. Sounds like you had a great day! I was in Creston – but will drop by tomorrow. I think everyone there would be inspired to see someone with your background, expertise and experience finding even more new ways to work with technology.

Hey Ron. What’s the “withscissors” about?

Ever the thoughtful responder, you captured the process to a T. 🙂

Great reflections on how the day went. I for one had many moments of frustration, but it was a great reminder of how many of our students must feel, learning something new that doesn’t come easy.
